Mounting stone epitaphs on church walls spread to Hungary in the sixteenth century through Vienna. The middle relief of these pieces generally depicted the crucified Christ, while the deceased and his family could be seen on both sides of the cross in the gesture of praying. The central scene was generally also surrounded by an ornate frame with inscriptions.
Cast by Viktor Molnár around 1881 for the Hungarian National Museum.
