The stele, which is closed with a tympanon, shows two men. On the right, a bearded, elderly man is seated on a backless chair with a footstool. According to the inscription engraved on the tympanon, his name was Praxiteles. Theodoros, a young man with short hair, stands opposite him. They hold hands (dexiosis): the two men — perhaps father and son — were very close, even beyond the grave. Both wear only a mantle, which leaves the muscular chest bare. The stele thus depicts them both as athletes and as good citizens.
