The upper part of the stele is engraved with a fragmentary inscription that commemorates a woman named Mynno. She sits on a backless chair, wearing a thin dress (chiton) and a mantle (himation). Her lowered right hand holds a spindle, in her raised left hand there is a ball of yarn or a distaff, which was probably once painted. A yarn basket (calathus) is placed beside her chair; thus, the sculptor showed the young woman while spinning. This was a customary way of depicting married women, since families usually produced their clothes themselves. The stele is crowned with a tympanon and palmette-shaped acroteria.
