The sanctuary-shaped stele commemorates a woman named Polyxene. The deceased sits on a backless chair with a footstool, wearing a chiton and a himation that also covers her head. She gazes sorrowfully ahead, her left hand embracing the shoulder of a young boy that stands at her feet. Her attention is focused on the child who is shown like an adult, wearing a single mantle. Behind her there is a maidservant, recognisable from her long-sleeved chiton and cap-like headdress (sakkos). Her left is raised to her chin in mourning. The epitaph engraved at the top tells us that Polyxene is mourned by her child, husband, and parents.
