Mycenae David Leverett

Leverett, the conceptual artist, concrete poet, graphic artist and painter, has taken a leading place in contemporary British art and scored considerable success with regular showings in the United States as well. His interest centres around time and space, but parallel with his narrative, philosophical sheets, he also addresses himself to the problems of light and cosmic motion in his abstract pictures (see MO.91.125). In his graphic sheets, he is fond of mixing various channels of communication and spiritual energies. The direct references of different techniques of reproduction (photos, prints) to the objects are often complemented by calligraphic signs and fragmentary texts. Various mediative elements of his pictures appear as memories of by-gone events, the carriers of an archaic message. For Leverett, philosophy and art are not separated, but he tries to explore the hidden elements of the tight associative connections between the two.
