The small, squat vessel with a narrow neck and small rim, adorned with concentric circles at the shoulder, was presumably used for storing ointment. Due to its shape, it is most probably date from the Second Intermediate Period. Similar vessels were used in ancient Egypt in everyday life, but they also played an important role among grave goods, as ointments were personal items necessary for the deceased in the afterlife.
